5 Essentials for Your Family Beachside Adventure

Summer is here, and what better way to pass a sunny weekend than by relaxing at the beach? Families have flocked to local beaches for generations to build sandcastles, catch some rays, and make lifelong memories. You probably look forward to your beach trip all year, so it’s important to make sure you pack all the essentials that will make your vacation unforgettable. 

As you pack up for your next oceanfront getaway, don’t forget to include these five beach staples. 

All the Shade

You need to make sure that you’re prepared for all that fun under the sun. Invest in a weatherproof canopy beach umbrella and some UV-protection sunglasses. You should also make sure everyone in your family has a floppy beach hat and easy-on, easy-off beach clothes to wear over their bathing suits. 

A Portable Table

Don’t make your sandwiches take their name literally. A portable beach table will make sure your electronics and food stay sand-free and are easy to access anytime. You may want to look into beach house rentals near you so you can really take your relaxation to the next level. Many beach houses become a home away from home, and you may just discover that your family wants to come back to the same place year after year. 

A Refillable Water Bottle

Summer dehydration is a major risk when you’re spending the day at the beach, especially for kids who love to run back and forth and really work up a sweat. Everyone should have their own refillable water bottle on-hand, and you should include extra bottles of water in your cooler so there’s always some within reach. 

The Right Beach Cooler

Look for a leakproof, weatherproof cooler that has a strap and handle for easy transport. The right cooler will be easily washable and can be used not just at the beach but also on a trip to the park, camping or other outdoor excursions. 

Make sure your cooler has good insulation and durable zippers, too. A higher quality model will cost more, but it will also last for years and help fuel all your favorite beachside memories. 

A Waterproof Speaker

Music can liven up any beach day and serve as a great accompaniment to a group hangout. A waterproof Bluetooth speaker can connect to your smartphone and play all your favorite tunes. Just make sure you’re respectful of other beachgoers. 

Whether you have gone to the beach every summer since you were a kid or haven’t dipped your toes in the ocean for years, a beachside vacation is always something for the whole family to look forward to. Pack your bag at least two weeks in advance, and check it twice before you leave.
