5 Fun Ways to Treat Yourself When Off Mom-Duty
When you’re a Mom, most of your life revolves around your children. You’re focused on their needs, making sure they are safe, and sharing quality time together. It’s hard to carve out precious minutes for yourself. If you are fortunate enough to get some time off, don’t waste it. Enjoy 5 fun ways to treat yourself when you’re not on duty.
Get Off the Beaten Path
Go someplace you don’t normally get to go. This could be your chance to take a hike in the forest, spend a day at the beach, or explore historical sites that fascinate you in a nearby town. Take the opportunity to make memories that will tide you over until the next time you have time to yourself.
Go on a Shopping Spree
If you are like most parents, you probably don’t splurge on yourself all that much. You’re always thinking about what you need to get for the kids or the house. As a result, your wants end up farther down on the list of things to buy. Treat yourself on a shopping trip, whether you’re in a womens clothing boutique or a hobby shop, you can find the things you want but never get to buy yourself. Bring home that impulse buy.
Give Yourself the Spa Experience
Years ago, a commercial slogan used to say, “Calgon, take me away.” Picture yourself soaking in a hot tub, getting a massage, or taking a steam bath. Surround yourself with soothing sounds and scents. A few hours to recharge will give you the energy you need to get back to your full-time job as a parent.
Catch a Movie
If you can’t remember the last time you sat in a movie theater, and no, movies that your children wanted to see don’t count, it’s high time you went. Go with a friend, your husband, get a group of your besties, or soak up some alone time. Go all out. Buy the movie popcorn and candy. Sit back and enjoy the show. You might even be able to take advantage of a double feature.
Head to the Arena for Your Favorite Sporting Event
Whether you love wrestling, football, or tennis, don’t miss out on the thrill of an in-person event. The whole place will be buzzing with excitement. Give yourself a chance to be in the middle of it.
You work hard as a parent. While it’s true your kids are everything to you, you deserve some time to yourself. It could be as simple as drinking a latte in a coffee shop while you read a book. Take time out for yourself so you’ll be ready to concentrate on your family when you get home.
