Best Style Tips for Busy Working Moms
Being a mom usually means spending most of your time taking care of your family and typically not having enough time to take care of yourself, even giving yourself the basics, such as getting enough sleep. Eat well and look good. However, there’s no need to sacrifice your personal style just because you’re a busy mom!
Investing in the right wardrobe isn’t at all shallow, but rather a very practical thing to do. All working moms know that looks and clothes say a lot about how they feel and act, and each and every one of us want to look great with as little effort as possible and on a reasonable budget!
It’s not impossible, and here are a few simple tips to help reduce stress from your daily routine and align your wardrobe with the hectic lifestyle you have.
The Basics
You need to have a couple of basic pieces in your wardrobe that are classic and neutral, which means also they’re easily styled and combined. These garments can be combined with different shoes and be worn from morning to evening.
Such pieces should include:
- A plain white shirt that you can easily wear with trousers or a skirt,
- A pair of elegant pants,
- A blazer
- A couple of silk shirts.
A Choice of Accessories
Accessories may be tiny details, but take the right one, combine it with one of the basic garments and you will create a unique look. The must-have accessory is definitely a bag that can match your wardrobe and that is big enough to hold everything a busy mom on the go may need.
Include other accessories as well, such as scarves, hats, earrings, and rings, just be careful not to overdo it. Most of the time, less is more, so keep it tasteful and simple with one or two accessories that complete your outfit and flatter your overall look.
An Array of Dresses
Many busy moms typically opt for trousers as it makes it easier to go about their daily business, but there’s really no reason you shouldn’t spice things up with a variety of day dresses that you can wear when you go on errands or to a park with your kids. It only takes two or three that you can style according to your mood and circumstances, but the choice is incredibly wide – feminine floral prints, A-line dresses, ruffle hemlines, soft pastel hues and modern monochrome styles. Whatever you pick, it’s ideal for everyday and casual wear. Pair your classic summer dress with chic flats for the ultimate daytime look, or dress it up with a pair of trendy wedges to lift your everyday aesthetic.
Jeans and a White T-shirt
Jeans and a white T-shirt is a timeless classic and always a good choice. It is the perfect style when you don’t know what to wear. Whether you wear sneakers, boots, heels, sandals or ballet flats, all it takes is your favourite pair of jeans and a quality white T-shirt. Combining different accessories, you’ll always be able to switch styles and adapt them to both the weather and the way you feel that day.
Colours, Colours, Colours
It’s amazing how an infusion of colour can transform your style and the way you feel. As a busy mum, it is too easy to just wear black and grey. Don’t avoid bright colours as they have the power to lift your spirits and give you a more youthful and relaxed look.
Black can often drain the liveliness and colour from your face, so pay attention to what colour is right next to your face. If you’re a fan of a certain colour, but you feel it doesn’t flatter you in wardrobe, then invest in detail such as a bag, jewellery or shoes in that colour – this will make it stand out or simply give you the pleasure of having it on you.
There’s no reason you should allow your wardrobe to keep you in the past and your good looks remain just a pale memory! Embrace and celebrate the more capable, resourceful and stronger woman that you’ve become throughout your life and motherhood. Be kinder to yourself on those bad hair days because you don’t have to be perfect to be a good mom. You also don’t have to be glamourous every day to look great. Incorporate these simple tips into your daily style and you will feel amazing with no hassle at all!
