Best Tips to Entertain your Baby While Running Errands
Taking your baby on errands can be a challenge and can sometimes be frustrating for both you and your baby. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. There are plenty of ways to entertain your baby while running errands. Here are some tips to keep your little one happy:
Bring along some of your baby’s favorite toys or snacks
Going out with your little one and need to entertain them while running errands? Make sure to take some of your baby’s favorite toys and snacks. Not only will the toys keep your baby busy, but they can also provide a welcome distraction if you have a snack or toy that is particularly enjoyable for baby. Keep a few toys tucked away in your car, especially ones that can entertain baby without needing assistance from a grown-up. That way, you won’t need to worry about being stuck somewhere with a bored baby in tow.
Bring along new toys your baby hasn’t played with
Along the same note as the previous point, if you are going out to run errands and you know you will be out for quite some time, make sure to bring along some new toys your baby hasn’t played with. Your baby will be happy to play with a toy that she’s not accustomed to yet, it will give her something to focus their attention on, and it could be a great learning opportunity as well! There are so many interesting new toys out there to help your little one understand shapes, colors, animals, and more. It can also be a good way to learn away from home if you find yourself having difficulty teaching in a traditional environment. Whatever the case may be, bringing along some unfamiliar items can really help make running errands fun and educational for your baby.
Stop frequently to allow your baby to explore and play
When running your everyday errands with a baby in tow, don’t forget to stop and let your baby explore along the way. Allowing your little one to play and explore will entertain them and provide valuable, sensory-stimulating experiences. If you’re going from one store to the next, try to find green spaces or play areas where they can play. This can also be a great time for both of you to take a break from running errands.
Play games like ‘I Spy’ or ‘Hide and Seek’
If you’re looking for a great way to entertain your baby while running errands, why not try playing a game of ‘I Spy’ or ‘Hide and Seek’? These are classic games that don’t need additional items to be played. You can play either of these games anywhere—in the car, in line at the store, or even in the doctor’s waiting room. And if you ever get stuck on suggestions for items to spy with ‘I Spy’, just look around! Chances are you’ll find something fun that your little one will enjoy.
Get them involved
Entertaining your baby while running errands can be a daunting task. However, it’s much easier if you get them involved with the process. You can start by letting them carry one or two items, such as an apple, or a small box of cereal. Not only will this encourage them to help out and teach practical life, but it will also entertain them during the experience. When appropriate, try offering your little one two different options and let them decide which one is best for the situation. By involving your baby in these scenarios, you’ll be able to make running errands more manageable and enjoyable for the both of you!
