How to Throw a Dreamy Outdoor Birthday Party
As a parent, you want to be able to provide your son or daughter with the best birthday celebration they could ever dream of having. However, one of the most common mistakes made by parents is simply assuming what their child wants or what’s best for them. This can lead to a lot of disappointment come the day of the party. Therefore, the following includes a few of the best things you can do to throw an outdoor birthday party that your child is going to enjoy.
Settle Down & Budget
There’s no doubt about it; it can be very exciting to start planning your child’s dream birthday party, but settling down a little bit goes a long way. This is because when we get too excited, mistakes tend to occur, and suddenly the party is overbudget. Budgeting is incredibly important because not only do you want to avoid burning a hole through your pocket, but you won’t have to sacrifice quality. Things that should go into your budget include food, supplies, and entertainment such as bounce houses and mobile gaming trucks, to name a few.
Plan with Your Child
Although you’re in charge of planning the party, do not plan everything on your own. Instead, allow your son or daughter to have some input into their own birthday party. For example, ask them about the type of theme they want or the flavor of the birthday cake they would like to eat. If they’re a little older, they may even be able to help you decorate and send out invitations. The most important thing here is your child’s taught on their birthday, and thus, if you are ever unsure about something, ask your child what they think.
Find Great Outdoor Activities
With the right budget, there’s a lot of major things you can do outdoors for a birthday party. Bounce houses are great for when you have a lot of kids coming and are popular with a wide range of ages. More popular types can include slides and obstacles to bounce around. Speaking of slides, slip-n-slides are great for summer parties when part of a water theme, allowing the kids to keep cool while also able to have a lot of fun. Other options can include outdoor laser tag, renting a pony or petting zoo animals, and outdoor movies.
Clean Up the Yard
Outdoor parties can be extremely fun, but they can also pose a danger to your guests if the yard isn’t prepped ahead of time. That is why it is highly recommended to take the time to clean up your outdoor space. You are going to want to look for any hidden holes that someone could trip on or dangerous pests such as ants or wasps that could end up biting a guest. Make sure there aren’t any poky weeds if kids will be running around barefoot, and make sure there isn’t any trash laying around that can present a hazard.
If you’re thinking of throwing your child the best outdoor birthday party ever, you need a lot of time to plan and budget. These are things you should consider ahead of time in that process, and of course, always talk to your child about what they want. Sometimes parents will spend a lot of money on a big 30-child party when maybe all they want is just a few close friends, or would like a pinata more than setting up an outdoor theater. Understanding their expectations will go a long way in helping you plan what they believe to be their best birthday party.
