Love From Seven Women in Nepal
Today we had the pleasure and good fortune to spend time with many wonderful women. Seven Women Is on a mission to socially and economically empower marginalized and disabled women in Nepal through skills training and employment.
This grassroots development project was started to create change for seven women who were found operating out of a tin shed and enduring harsh discrimination as a result of being disabled.
Through a dedicated and passionate team, they have established two centres in Nepal which have trained and employed over 550 women, and are funded through the sale of the women’s hand-made products and cooking classes.
They are working in rural Nepal developing literacy projects and funding relevant training to enable marginalized women in remote villages to develop local income streams.
With effective development principles, they have created results that have empowered many women.
Their goal is to:
Build a social enterprise from which the entire supply chain benefits.
Spread awareness about fair trade and employ fair trade principles.
Allow others to experience the realities associated with creating social change through YouTube clips, tours to Nepal, speaking engagements and marketing materials.
Make fair trade and ethical buying the norm.
We are pleased and excited to be working on a project with them. We will keep you posted with further updates.
